Wall art made to fit — not a print, not a poster, not a standard panel. You send the image and the wall measurements; we return a proof, then cut and set the mosaic to the millimetre.
Most clients come to us with one of four things: a photograph they love, a painting they own, a brand mark they need reproduced, or a colour scheme and a mood. Any of those is enough to start.
\nOne honest caveat. Mosaic is not a printer. Fine detail below roughly 5 mm cannot survive as a single tessera, so we sometimes advise adjusting an image — simplifying a background, strengthening a silhouette, or scaling the piece up. We will tell you before you commit, not after.
| Source image | Result in mosaic |
|---|---|
| Bold subjects, strong silhouette, few colours | Excellent. Big shapes and clear edges are what mosaic does best. |
| Landscape and botanical work | Very good. Gradual tonal shifts map naturally onto smalti colour runs. |
| Portraits | Good at 1 m+ height. Small faces need the mosaic enlarged or simplified. |
| Photographs with fine texture (fabric, foliage detail) | Needs simplification. We will propose an edited version. |
| Logos and lettering | Good if letterforms are bold. Thin serifs and hairlines need re-drawing heavier. |
| Line drawings and maps | Excellent — strong lines read perfectly in cut tesserae. |
A photograph is fine — that is how most commissions begin. Send the highest resolution you have and we will tell you honestly how it will translate.
We match to a Pantone, RAL or paint reference wherever the palette allows. Glass colour is achieved through the body of the material, not a surface coating, so it does not fade or rub off.
No formal minimum, but the economics favour pieces of roughly 1 m across or larger. Below that, our smallest roundels still deliver a fully handmade piece.
